In our garden we have a large mill pond that was in serious need of dredging. It hadn’t been done properly for over 17 years. The access to the pond is extremely difficult, due to slopes and very narrow lawns around significant parts of the pond. There is also an island in he middle to complicate it further.

Having contacted a number of companies STC was the only one who offered to come and inspect the site. Mr Cornthwaite made two visits and spent a significant time discussing what was needed and how he would approach the job, which given the access problems was essential. He was able to provide some very innovative solutions to a complicated location. He was also flexible in pricing the project, providing various options from day rates to fix priced.

Mr Cornthwaite communication has been exemplary through out the work, consequently the project has run smoothly from beginning to end. In addition to ourselves he worked with the farmer who’s fields were being used to take the silt. Also when there may have been an issue with our neighbours this too was dealt with very professionally. Any problems that arose he found solutions, including re-engineering some equipment to compete the task.

As promised he ensured the collateral damage to the surrounding area was as limited as it was practical to do so. I would have no hesitation in recommending STC, the company has been a joy to work with.

Steve Cornthwaite was one of the major contractors on site for the building of Reedley Marina, Burnley. His work and professionalism on that job were such that on completion of that project, we have asked him to do more work here at Barden Mill.
